Welcome to the Saturday East Bay training series! This series is designed as slow ramp-up starter series for new riders but welcomes riders at all skill levels, including those who haven’t ridden a bike in years and those who may be recovering from injuries.

This week we head to Castro Valley, and revisit Lower Pinehurst and inroduce some of you to the long climb up Redwood Road. Like last week’s ride, we head to Moraga and Canyon Road. This time we turn left at the end of Canyon and climb Lower Pinehurst before connecting with Redwood Road. Our rest stop and turn around point is Peet’s in Castro Valley. From there we simply retrace our route back to Orinda. The return on Redwood Road is longer and steeper than the climb to Castro Valley. Taking BART from Castro Valley is an option and makes your ride about 20 miles in length.

All skill levels are welcome! If any ride is too much, we will work with you on making sure you have alternatives to the entire route. You will have a great bike ride. That’s a win!

Reach out with any of your questions or concerns. You really can do this.
