Houston-Area ALC Training Series
Take a ride through the Sam Houston National Forest from New Waverly to Huntsville and climb 2728 ft in the process! See the mega-size statue of Sam Houston himself along the way! Route takes us from New Waverly to Huntsville through the forest then heads back along the service road to I-45. That’s the 31-mile route. To get 59.6 miles, we head in the opposite direction along the same roads from the second rest stop near New Waverly. All roads have light to moderate traffic with no shoulder. Terrain is rolling hills with some climbs up to 9% grade.
All skill levels are welcome! If any ride is too much, we will work with you on making sure you have alternatives to the entire route. You will have a great bike ride. That’s a win! And remember, safety is critical. We will be following all bicycling laws and regulations as well as COVID regulations!
