Houston-Area ALC Training Series
Join us for a local ride through some of Houston finest bike trails! Ride has two routes that start and finish from Godwin Park in Houston. First route of 41 miles heads east on Brays Bayou Greenway Trail to the Greater East End, where we get on the Buffalo Bayou Hike and Bike Trail and then the Heights Hike and Bike Trail to White Oak Greenway Trail. We’ll tour through The Heights then head south on urban streets, most without bike lanes, to River Oaks and West University before returning to Brays Bayou Hike and Bike Trail and Godwin Park. Second route of 22 miles heads through residential streets to the new Sims Bayou Hike & Bike Trail, which features some really cool murals in addition to great views of wildflowers along Sims Bayou. We return to Godwin Park via urban streets, most without bike lanes. Riders should be comfortable riding on urban streets and taking the lane as needed. There are no facilities at Godwin Park, so please take care of your needs before arriving! If you are driving to Godwin Park, please park on the Park side of Balmforth Lane to keep parking on Rutherglenn Dr and S. Rice Ave. open for families with small children
All skill levels are welcome! If any ride is too much, we will work with you on making sure you have alternatives to the entire route. You will have a great bike ride. That’s a win! And remember, safety is critical. We will be following all bicycling laws and regulations as well as COVID regulations!
