545 miles. 7 days. 1 mission.
We’re a year-round community! Come to any of our workshops, training rides, special events, and social outings, and don’t forget to bring a friend.
If you’re looking for a specific type of event, use the the “Narrow Your Results” menu below to filter by event type (we host all types of events, so there’s something for everybody!) or by Region by selecting NorCal, SoCal, or Outside CA.
Climb the 74
37 or 41 Miles, Long and Steep Hills
Meet: 7:30 AM
Ride-Out: 8:00 AM
Rain Cancels
We’ll meet at Townie at 7:30 am, ride out at 8. We’ll head down valley on the 111 (CAUTION TRAFFIC!!) to Palm Desert, then climb the 74 (4%). Two options: Short (37 miles total) or full climb to Visitor’s Center (41 miles). Back down the hill we’ll take Mesa View & Portola, then head north to Technology Starbucks for our pit. We’ll return to start via the CV Link extension bike path through Demuth Park (caution traffic on bike path entry). This is our first time climbing a long hill this season, so a special invitation to all newbies, please – even if you only do the short version. If you’re following the progressive training plan, this is a bit longer, but many ways to make it shorter if you’re not ready for the longer miles. The #1 key to improving: TITS: Time In The Saddle!
All skill levels are welcome! If any ride is too much, we will work with you on making sure you have alternatives to the entire route. You will have a great bike ride. That’s a win! And remember, safety is critical. We will be following all bicycling laws and regulations as well as COVID regulations.!
GPS/TCX files available here or on the Roadrunner FB or Strava pages (members only).
