What brought you to the Ride?
My husband David and I have always enjoyed riding together. Riding with him is always a happy time away from the busy-ness of life. Also, access to health among the LGBT+ communities is part of the things we’ve talked about since we met over 20 years ago. So, helping ALC is a natural fit for us. We rode last year (our first time riding together) and we will roadie this year (our first time roadieing together!)
What is your favorite Ride memory?
I’ve been both a Roadie and a rider, and my favorite ride memory is rolling into the finish line. Of course, as a rider I beamed with a sense of accomplishment getting into LA. But also as a roadie, I got that same sense of accomplishment seeing riders stream in with glowing smiles, knowing we, the Roadies, got them there.
What is your favorite thing about being a Roadie?
What I love about being a Roadie is the endless thank yous from the riders. The work is hard, starts early and ends late, but the love and appreciation the riders give is an ego-boost like none other!
What is one piece of advice you would give to a 1st time Roadie?
Do what needs to be done – be flexible, go with it.
